BCC event

Since 2008 an initiative of young galleries and project spaces known as CC, has regularly organized joint openings and artist talks in order to build net-works between local artists as a means to intensify the exchange between both the participating art communicators and their visitors. For four years CC has contributed to Cologne's vividness as a venue for art and culture with these joint events. CC goes BCC! From January 27 until 29, 2012 we, the Cologne Contemporaries, are inviting young galleries from Brussels to come to Cologne for a collective group show. To this end, the historical 19th century factory site „Carlswerk“ in Cologne-Mülheim, is allocating its recently re-novated 126,000 sq meter industrial area, providing adequate space and – by virtue of its industrial charm – an extraordinary atmosphere. Brussels based Polish curator Agata Jastrzabek, and the former director of the Kunstverein Düsseldorf Vanessa Joan Müller of Cologne, are composing the exhibition as a selection of artistic positions from the programs of about 20 participating galleries and project spaces. Offering an overview of the activities of the Benelux and Rhineland contemporary art scenes, and opening the “Carlswerk” as an art venue for the first time.
